Apparently you can get it from typing too much…I spent all of Thanksgiving weekend typing away (added 30 pages to my Legal Profession outline in 2 days of 8 hour typing madness) to avoid thinking about how lonely I was, and while I clearly was incredibly productive, it took its toll. Thank goodness for those little compression arm bands, because exam season isn’t really a time when it’s okay to be down for the count at the keyboard. I’ll try to be good during break and give it a rest, but the sad reality of the fact that classes ended today is that I am going to spent the next approximately three weeks typing like my life depends on it, and well, my grades do, and my life is as a student, so I guess it sort of does. So thanks, Ace Bandage company, for your very effective little arm band, because now I can type without discomfort. I feel like I might have my best semester yet for exams…the first three semesters I didn’t really know what to do and was busy being self-destructive all over the place and never got my focus together, second semester last year I was distracted by my failing relationship, and now I’ve just got law school to worry about. So I’m just worrying about law school. Which is what I should have been doing all along. Too late now…better late than never?

I’ve come to realize that in my three significant relationships, things have transpired that left me feeling as though those boys viewed me primarily as a sex object…while that’s probably just simple fairness in the case of The Boy Next Door (our relationship, while I think it was ultimately very healthy for me in many ways, was mostly based on having sex), both Reno (in that we hooked up for months before we started dating, and he pursued other girls while said hooking up was going on) and Traveler (in that he emotionally withdrew from me when he got back from Europe spending time with his ex and realizing he was still in love with her, leading to months and months of treating me as though I didn’t matter to him) behaved in ways that led me to come back and rest on, when I was feeling bad about myself, that my boyfriend didn’t really love me or care for me, he just wanted someone to screw and put up with his crap and be warm and giving to him without him having to reciprocate. It led me to value myself less, to be okay with never being given gifts or flowers or taken out to dinner, because I’m not worth those things. I don’t want to do that anymore. I want a guy who wants to sleep with me but also wants to know me. Wants to take me out. Wants to figure out how much I love a refrigerated Kit Kat and have one waiting for me when I come over. Wants to do nice things for me, just because. I am a good person, a worthwhile one, and I deserve to be treated that way…I am not just an object.

It’s been about 6 weeks. They’ve been tumultuous, but not in way conducive to saying much about it. The event precipitating my disappearance from most of the online world, as stated when I took my little hiatus, was a bad breakup. It’s still…messy. As in we’re sleeping together on a pretty regular basis and it’s edging closer and closer to a friends with benefits situation, also known as a relationship without any of the hard parts about relationships. And I am not down with that. You want the sex and affection and someone to talk to about your weird uncle that was at your house for Thanksgiving, you need to suck it up and commit and be accountable. So that’s heading for a clash sometime soon. I think I might actually be the one who precipitates it, which would be a first, because if there’s anything I want less than a bad situation I’m already in, it’s the unknown. I’m a big old coward about things like this, but I’m just so over it that it’s becoming inevitable. Otherwise, I’ve gotten swept up in school and am actually putting forth an effort I’m proud of for maybe the first time ever in law school, so my resumed presence may be sporadic at best. I’ve missed having an outlet, but I think it was best I got thing settled in my own head before I tried to express them outwardly.
